Ponganadu, A Beautiful Rural near Kilimanoor, Kerala

Ponganadu is a village which is being transformed into small town in southern Kerala.

The name 'Ponganadu' evolved from the ancient name, 'Por-Simha-Nadu' (The land of battling lions). This region was under a local royal family called Keezhpperoor Swaroopam.


The village of Ponganadu is located in between National Highway 47 (India) and State Highway 1 (Kerala). The distance between these highways and Ponganadu is about 5 km. The road connecting the important commercial towns of Kilimanoor and Parippally goes through this village.

The state bank of India is the prime financial institution in Ponganadu village and its' surrounding areas. It is located at about 50 m from the Ponganadu junction by the side of Ponganadu - Kallambalam road. The bank provides 24 hr ATM facility. The bank is always a busy center.

The following footage is captured from a beautiful paddy field of Ponganadu village. It was shot during the twilight hours. You can see the sweet chorus of various natural sounds from birds, cicada, frogs & many other living forms. And if you listen very carefully, you can hear a sound of recital of hindu sacred scripture from a distant temple.
